Pumpkin Spice Drink

If you've tasted pumpkin cake, or pumpkin fritters you'll definitely love this drink. Imagine blending your favourite pumpkin vibe up and pouring it in a glass!

I am a sucker for anything pumpkin and eat it on a daily basis, it's something that's always in my fridge. Some people even call me "pumpkin!"

Beta carotene is a powerful antioxidant that gives orange vegetables and fruits their vibrant color. The body converts any ingested beta carotene into vitamin A. So that means pumpkin is full of it! Consuming foods with high volumes of beta carotene may have the following benefits:

  • reducing the risk of developing certain types of cancer

  • offering protection against asthma and heart disease

  • decreasing the risk of age-related macular degeneration

Many studies have suggested that eating more plant foods, such as pumpkin, decreases the risk of obesity and overall mortality. It can also help a person avoid diabetes and heart disease, promote a healthy complexion and hair, increase energy, and a healthy body mass index (BMI).

You only need a few ingredients for this immune boosting drink:

* 100g steamed pumpkin

* Vanilla essence/extract

*2 sachets sweetener of choice

* 1 tsp Woolworths mixed spice blend ( includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves)

*OR all of these spices mentioned above separately

*Extra ground cinnamon

*Chia seeds

*200ml vanilla unsweetened almond milk (dairy-free milk/normal milk choice)

Eating pumpkin is good for the heart. The fiber, potassium, and vitamin C content in pumpkin all support heart health.
